Seismic inversion and fracture prediction in tilted transversely isotropic media

Abstract The conventional Amplitude variation with offset (AVO) inversion has been mainly developed for the isotropic media and therefore it is generally inapplicable to anisotropic fractured formations. A set of tilted fractures in medium can be regarded as a transversely (TTI) medium. reflection coefficient equation TTI contains many parameters such parameters, velocities, azimuth dip angles. selection objective functions significantly affect its performance searching optimal solution. seismic remains challenging because very complicated after conversion into solving function problems. genetic algorithm (GA) provides universal framework solve optimization problem complex systems, independent types disciplines In this study, GA-based prestack implemented by constructing based on approximation. shown satisfactory one-dimensional well logging model, modified Hess model field datum. Furthermore, fracture filling materials are predicted according theories equivalent weakness. results demonstrate proposed method feasible robust. findings research expected provide theoretical guidance elastic type identification hydrocarbon reservoirs.
